my top five lip products

Happy Friday Magical Creatures!!!

This past week has been so absolutely beautiful that I’ve been spending all of my spare time just wandering outside going on adventures. Which explains the lack of blog posts, but we’re back up and running!

I just wanted to share with you a couple of my favorite lip products today.

These five colors cover my basic needs for any occasion.

I’m going to start with my Lime Crime Unicorn Lipstick, for obvious reasons.

Lime Crime is an interesting little company that is based out of LA. Disclaimer before I talk about how much I unfortunately love this lipstick, Lime Crime is a pretty shamble-y business. The CEO is kind of a mess, and their business practices are super shady. Sorry, Lime Crime. The worst part is they have beautiful products; the shades of lip colors they have are so magical it makes me want to cry.

This Lime Crime Unicorn Lipstick in D’Lilac is a super fun addition to any outfit. I love the texture and the pigment is just absolutely incredible. I like to wear it to parties or with a really relaxed outfit when I’m just out and about.

You can get this on Lime Crime’s website, but I wouldn’t suggest it because of so many complaints of shipping problems, credit card breaches etc. I purchased mine at Urban Outfitters for $18.

This next product is my girly go-to.

You can tell because its obviously very run down. This is Too Faced’s La Creme Lipstick in Taffy. It’s almost a nude, but has a beautiful pink color that looks super sweet. This color is great for wearing to special occasions where you want to look clean and simple.

You can get this on Too Faced’s Website, I purchased mine at Ulta for $22.

My next product is an everyday gloss.

I literally wear this lip gloss every single day. This is Urban Decay’s Naked Lip Gloss in Sesso. This is a sheer nude gloss with some great orangey undertones, perfect to complement my hopelessly pale skin. It has a great texture that goes on smooth and never feels clumpy or sticky, and has a super high-gloss finish.

I actually got this in my Urban Decay Naked On The Run box, but you can purchase it separately for $20 at their website.

This next product is a newbie but has immediately become one of my favorites.

I really wasn’t familiar with Colour Pop Cosmetics until just recently, but I’m so happy they came into my life. This is Colour Pop’s Lippie Stix in Pitch, a rich, chocolatey brown/red. The coolest thing about this specific product is that unlike a traditional lip stick, it doubles as a liner. These come in a million shades, in fact I doubt I’ll have to buy lime crime ever again, the pigment and texture of this lipstick is perfection. It’s really long lasting and easy to apply.

Warning, if you are as pale as me, you might look like a vampire. Generally, I am okay with that, but you might not be.

Oh yeah, the actual coolest thing about this is that is sells on Colour Pop’s website for $5. That’s right, I’m ordering at least four more shades of this. And you should, too.

Colors are fun, but let’s not forget the most important part of lip care.

So obviously Aquaphor is an oldie, but it sure is a goody. Especially living in northern Indiana, things get REAL dry in the winter. Moisturizing your lips is so important. Putting a thin layer on before applying lipstick results in a smoother finish, or brushing some on over your color can add a mild gloss that will last all night. Put it on at night before you go to bed and wake up with super soft lips! Please, PLEASE moisturize.

You can get Aquaphor at any drug store for $3.

Thanks for tuning in to my first beauty post! Hopefully this can give you some inspiration for trying some new colors, or just finding your go-to!

Also, thanks to Livvy for being my lighting expert/all around encourager for this post.

Have a good weekend, you mystical beings, you.

Glitter and Rainbows,

The Girlicorn
